John Brabourne Awards

We’re delighted to announce that producer Maria Caruana Galizia is one of this years recipients of a John Brabourne Awards. Named after acclaimed film producer John Brabourne, the awards have supported new and emerging film and tv talent since 2007.

The award is contributing to the on going development of a documentary, tentatively called ‘16-10-17’ which follows the lives of activists in Malta who are campaigning for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia, a Maltese journalist who was assassinated outside her home in 2017.

Maria had this to say about receiving the award “I feel truly honoured to receive a John Brabourne Award, especially as the money is supporting a film so close to my heart. I feel privileged to have known Daphne Caruana Galizia, and I want to share her story, as well as that of the activists in Malta who work tirelessly to bring her justice, with people across the world.”
