Type tells the story of Franny who develops allergic reactions to everything around her, and subsequently withdraws from the world. Talking about her inspiration for the film, Lesley says “I am drawn to odd stories of unusual people and circumstances - Type is a story about awkwardness, connection and illness with a beautiful ending.”

Early on in pre-production, the team decided to make the puppets and sets from recycled materials. “We made this animation towards the end of lock down. I wanted the materials of the characters and sets to be made from packaging and scrap material, in part to reflect the experience of the lockdown  and to be environmentally responsible on the production.” Working with a small team, Lesley designed and built the sets and puppets for the animation from scratch. The result is a wholly unique and original film about unusual types of love.

The film made it’s festival premier at the OSCAR qualifying festival Galway Film Fleadh, and went on to screen at BAFTA qualifying festivals Aesthetica Film Festival, Leeds International Film Festival, Flatpack Festival and Bolton International Film Festival.
