Filming the Festival of Humanities

November 2014 was a busy month for us. We were commissioned by Northumbria University department of Humanities to film their event, The Festival of Humanities. Over the course of 8 days, academics from the department held various events across Newcastle city centre. From Britain's first actresses to fashionable diseases of the 18th Century, there were topics to interest everyone.

During the festival, we had a new addition to our team - Cameron Campbell, a third year media student at Northumbria University. Cameron helped the team in various capacities and was responsible for making a short, behind the scenes video of the team hard at work.

My time on placement with Candle & Bell was filled with firsts; the first time I have taken on a professional brief outside of the universities bounds, my first time using some of the equipment they had, first time having to conduct an interview and first time having to correspond with producers and the client to produce a final product we were all proud of. It was eye opening as well as incredibly fun, Candle & Bell were very friendly and supportive, giving fantastic guidance all the way through each process and would answer any questions I raised.
