We’re proud as punch to announce that our very own Head of Comedy, Zahra Zomorrodian, has been selected for the prestigious BBC Comedy Collective.
The collective is made up of producers, writers and directors working in TV comedy in the UK. The year long schemes supports successful applicants by providing bursaries to develop scripts and pilots, guidance and mentoring from industry professionals including the BBC Comedy commissioning team, placements on BBC Comedy productions and masterclasses and workshops to help hone their craft.
Speaking about the application process, Zahra said “When the Comedy Collective opened for applications - I almost didn’t bother, but Maria and my husband James encouraged me to to give it another go and even then I almost missed the boat! You see the deadline was tax return day and as a serial procrastinator I’d left both until the last minute… Anyway the ADHD superpowers kicked in and I hit submit with about 25 minutes to spare: LOADSA TIME! - and then I got called for an interview and that was the most nerve wracking experience of my professional career.”
