MARWELL receives development support from the BFI Film Fund

We’re pleased to announce that our comedy feature film MARWELL, written and directed by Benjamin Bee, has been granted a development award by the BFI Film Fund. The award will allow us to continue working on the script and begin to raise finance to make the film. The film is being produced by Maria Caruana Galizia for Candle & Bell.

MARWELL was first developed at the Venice Biennale Cinema College in 2018, and later benefitted from support at the Edinburgh Talent Lab Connects program, through the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

Ben and Maria previously collaborated on the BAFTA long-listed short film ‘Mordechai’, which screened at over 35 festivals world wide, picking up multiple awards. In 2017 the team worked together on ‘Metroland’ which was funded by Creative England’s iShorts programme.
