Candle & Bell are looking forward to a busy six months as four short films enter pre-production. The films are Metroland by Benjamin Bee, STINE by Kat Wood, Elsewhere by Andy Berriman and Strange Cities Are Familiar by Saeed Taji Farouky.
In September we start production on Metroland. The film will star Daniel John Williams and Rachel Teate as a brother and sister, who take their dead mother on one last family trip. Metroland is our second collaboration with Benjamin and filming will take place over the course of two days in Newcastle and South Shields.
STINE will shoot late September, with Tuppence Middleton cast in the lead role of Lizzie. It is one of our more ambitious films to date, and involves a set construction and a robot. Thanks to the amazing team at Jam Jar Studios in Gateshead, we are able to make the film here in the North East and shoot in a green screen studio. We are working with the talented team at the Northern School of Art and their students, who are constructing the set.
Elsewhere is our second collaboration with writer/director Andy Berriman. The film will star BAFTA Breakthrough Brit Molly Windsor in the role of Hanna, and Mark Addy (Game of Thrones, The Full Monty) in the role of Terry. Our previous collaboration with Andy was the film A Six and Two Threes, and believe Elsewhere will be another resounding hit with audiences.
The final short film will be Strange Cities Are Familiar by Saeed Taji Farouky. The film is scheduled to go into production late January / early February and will be the first time we make a film in London.
