Candle & Bell receives BBC small indie fund support

Candle & Bell have received investment from the BBC Small Indie Fund. Launched in 2020, the £1m Fund supports the growth of small independent production companies with turnovers below £10m across Drama, Entertainment, Comedy, Factual, and Daytime.

The money received from the fund will be used to help Candle & Bell hire new staff and grow a slate of comedy projects for television and audio.

Maria Caruana Galizia, lead producer and founder of Candle & Bell commented “This is a turning point for this company and we’re incredibly excited to start this new chapter, thanks to the BBC. it gives us a unique opportunity to work on a new slate of comedy TV shows that champion northern talent and bring new tv productions to the North East. We are beyond grateful to the BBC and we're looking forward to working closely with Emma Lawson and the wider team of BBC commissioners to realise our ambition to make great comedy TV. “

Candle & Bell are hoping to bring in further investment to strengthen their film, audio and VR projects that are currently in development.
