In April 2024, producers from creative agency Zero contacted us about a project. They needed a North East based production company to production manage their upcoming shoot for Newcastle United. Did we think twice before taking the job? - Of course not! We loved the concept they had come up with, to show the passion and love the fans have for their club, and the excitement of an away day that all football fans know and love.
The first step in any successful video shoot is solid planning. It was an intense pre-production, with hundreds of extras and crew that needed to be hired, sourcing the additional infrastructure we needed to bring in, from caterers to generators and dressing rooms, not to mention ensuring the site was prepared to accommodate world famous football stars.
Production took place over three days. Day one involved working with the location manager to set up catering facilities, honey wagons, artist trailers and an onsite production office. Later in the day, the camera and lighting teams arrived. It had been agreed that while the filming for the video would take place, the photographer would work on a separate nearby set to capture the official photos. So everyone had to prepare to run two different set ups side by side. We also left the first day to work with a specialist rigger and capture the train POV shots, as these take time and require additional safety precautions.
The following two days filming took place with fans and footballers. Creating a really special atmosphere on set.
It was immensely gratifying to see the response to the final video. It’s a visual experience that not only showcases the new away kit but also taps into the emotional connection between the club and its supporters. Watching the launch video unfold across social media platforms and seeing the excitement it generated among fans was the most rewarding part of the process. Many Thanks to the team at Zero, particularly Sam Page-Jones, who brought us on to this job, we’re so proud to have been part of this journey.
