Attending Venice Biennale College Cinema
In August 2018 we got the good news that MARWELL a feature film Candle & Bell are developing had been selected for the prestigious Biennale College Cinema, in Venice. The team, consisting of writer/ director Benjamin Bee and producer Maria Caruana Galizia, travelled to participate in an intense 10 day workshop in Venice. MARWELL was one of twelve feature film projects selected to participate in the workshop.
During the workshop Ben and Maria worked with tutors including Scott MaCaulay, Editor-in-Chief of Filmmaker Magazine and producer of Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy by Harmony Korine, and Saving Face by Alice Wu; Ossi Nishri, Script consultant and co-founder of Quiddity; and Amra Baksic-Camo producer of An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker by Danis Tanovic.
Over the course of the workshop the team developed the script, worked on distribution and audience engagement, and production strategy. The workshop concluded with all teams pitching to members of the press as well as the Biennale president Paolo Baratta and the Director of the Cinema department Alberto Barbera.
The team are now developing the film further and will be looking to raise investment for the film.
