Interview with Newcastle based filmmaker, Andy Simpson.

Andy Simpson is a Newcastle based filmmaker. In 2011 he grabbed national attention by self-funding his first feature film, Young Hearts Run Free. Made for under £10,000, the film was shot across Northumberland and went on to win awards in the UK and US. In our latest video blog, Andy talks about sourcing finance, getting vintage cars on the cheap and self distributing the film.

Part 1

In part one of our interview, Andy talks about his decision to make a feature film and how he managed to finance it. He also gives a few tips on how to save time and money when making micro-budget feature films.

In part two of our interview, Andy talks about working as both director and producer and how to balance the two roles effectively. He also talks about self- distribution and how to get your feature film into cinemas in the UK and US.
